LG TV - Troubleshooting a TV With Sound But No Picture At a Glance If your LG TV plays audio but a picture does not display, this can be caused by a loose/faulty cable, improper input settings, or in rare cases, a problem with the TV. Note If your home theater or receiver acts as a hub for all external devices connected to the TV, the TV will need to be set to the same input as the home theater. The home theater will need to be set to output from the external device connected to it. If you do not know how to operate the function/input operation of your home theater or receiver you may need to connect the external device directly to the TV. Try This Power on TV. Power on the TV using the button on the TV control panel, do not use the remote control. With the TV powered on, press any key on the control panel of the television Ex Home, Vol + or -, Input. Note If TV's internal menus do not display on the screen when the button is pressed, the unit will require service. Please visit our Request a Repair page to schedule a repair service. Check the TV Input. Ensure the TV is on the proper video input. If you are unsure, press the button and select the input icon, and cycle through HDMI inputs until the correct video source is located. Verify the connection is secure and retry. Unplug the external device for at least 5 seconds if possible. Disconnect the HDMI cable from the TV and move it to an alternate port. Plug the device back in and change the TV to the new input to see if the issue is resolved. Note If you're troubleshooting a cable box be sure to allow it time to boot up after power is restored. Check the resolution setting from the external device. Depending on your LG TV model, a 1080i signal is required for a proper picture to be displayed. If you are unable to check the resolution setting on your connected device, press the INFO button on the LG remote. The TV will display an input information bar at the top of the TV screen. Note If the steps above did not resolve your issue, the unit will require service. Please visit our Request a Repair page to schedule a repair service. *Required question Thank you for your feedback!
